Dr. Weller was born and raised in Chicago. At 17 years old, Dr. Weller began experiencing stomach cramping and poor digestion. He suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) for 7 years and at 23 years old, he met a doctor that correlated his IBS with a problem in his spine. The doctor that he had seen was an upper cervical chiropractor that specifically focused on the functioning of the spine at the bottom of his head. This vital area is at the base of our skull where the brain and spinal cord meet. If the top vertebrae in our spine (cervical vertebrae #1), misaligns, it can distort the messages that are being sent from the brain to the body. Not only did Dr. Weller struggle with his digestion, but he had an extremely difficult time studying in school growing up as well was having ADD issues. After having the top vertebrae in his spine corrected, within a year’s time, both the IBS and difficulty focusing was a thing of the past.
Upper Cervical care changed his life on so many levels that it compelled him to want to serve the world by offering the same care to others. After several years in practice, his heart led him to St. Louis after meeting his now wife. Just a short time after getting married, he opened the Atlas Institute located in Ballwin, MO. Today, the Atlas Institute of Health sees an array of people that are dealing with colic, autism, depression, high blood pressure, cancer, infertility, fibromyalgia, seizures, asthma, digestion disorders and countless other conditions. Dr. Weller believes regardless of the health issue, if the body is given the opportunity to function properly, it then has the ability to heal itself. After all, the body doesn’t need any assistance, just no interference to its normal functioning.
The doctor(s) at the Atlas Institute of Health are on a mission to get this type of care out to the masses and his ultimate goal is to open a 24 hour center in St. Louis where people have an opportunity to heal naturally from the inside out without the use of drugs or surgery. Dr. Weller states that his mission is simple... “I honor God by serving humanity with upper cervical care .”
The majority of clients that have received an upper cervical spinal correction may feel better within days or oftentimes within a few hours. We must always keep in mind that it is not the atlas (upper cervical vertebrae #1) correction that gets one well, but rather it is “holding” atlas vertebrae’s new position that enables proper nerve functioning. Regardless of diagnosis, everyone benefits by having a proper functioning spine (nerve system). But, when you have traveled the road from being healthy to developing into the state of sickness or disease that you are in, it is only fair to warn you that the road back will not be entirely free of obstacles and disappointments. Nature cannot restore and revive worn out cells and tissues over night. The rebuilding that takes place in our body may take days, weeks or months, depending on the extent of the damage done. In the meantime, some reactions are almost always bound to occur. The body has to work extensively to heal, repair and restore itself well and during this healing process, it is more than likely to be accompanied by some pain and discomfort. Such pain and discomfort you may experience will however be eased by the knowledge that you are headed for a new lease on life. We must always remember that if it has taken time for the body to build itself into the state it is in, then it must also take time for the body to rebuild itself well.
There are many ways this critical head/neck area can become misaligned; a fall, an accident, a bump on the head, bad sleeping habits or poor posture. Misalignment can even occur during the birth process. Forceps used as a birthing aid, or a simple twist of the head during delivery can bring on misalignment! Any type of misalignment, regardless of how it occurred, restricts or distorts brain to body messages in this critical area at the top of the neck. Left unchecked this misalignment can cause pain and symptoms to develop and increase during one's lifetime.
The Upper Cervical Doctor's specialty is THE UPPER CERVICAL SPINAL CORRECTION, which is barely felt by the patient, requires NO forceful pulling, twisting or jerking motion of the neck.
It is specifically designed to correct head/neck misalignment, to restore body balance, and to re-activate brain communication to the areas affected by misalignment. As soon as the correction is made, muscles begin to relax, blood and oxygen circulation increases, the immune system gains strength and vitality and the body's natural, self-healing process begins.
